Owner/Certified Massage Therapist
My Personal Story…
I didn’t start my path into the healing arts like most people. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Graphic Design. I liked my career choice in my mid-twenties, and life was looking good.
But then Hurricane Katrina happened. Now, I have always lived in Vermont, so it’s odd that this natural disaster had much of an impact on my life way up near the Canadian border.
However, I remember watching the news and feeling disheartened with the career I had chosen. All of these people were rushing to help in Louisiana and it struck me that I didn’t have any skills that helped other people. This really bothered me.
So, I decided to go to massage school. I wanted to have a skill in my back pocket that would help people in a meaningful and tangible way. My original plan was to keep my Graphic Design career going while having this super cool skill ready for helping friends and family at any given moment. During the course of the 9 month program I unexpectedly fell head over heels in love with massage.
Because of this new love, I quit my career as a Graphic Designer by the end of my massage training and opened the doors of Emerge Massage Studio, LLC in 2006. Over a decade later, I am still happily helping Vermonters find calm in the midst of their busy lives.
Since 2006 I have continued my education and I have accumulated over1,000 hours of training and 8,000+ hours of hands-on work in my practice.
My Professional Story…
I earned my certificate in Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy (also known as Barefoot Bodywork) through Barefoot Bodywork Training Course in 2013. I have completed their Barefoot Basics, Anterior/Side-lying, as well as the Advanced Ashiatsu courses.
My studies have included anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and pathology as well as 8,000+ hands on clinical hours working with the public since 2006.
