Hanna Howard, Owner/Certified Massage Therapist
My Personal Story…
I have always had an interest in the healing arts. When I was in middle school I did a project involving essential oils and herbal medicine. I didn’t know anyone who knew much about it, but I was curious and that was a good place to start.
Fast forward to college graduation where I walked away with a degree in Graphic Design and Marketing. I thought I was set. I had checked off the boxes of what was expected of me and my career in Graphic Design was underway.
Things were going okay until Hurricane Katrina happened. Now, I have always lived in Vermont so it’s odd that this natural disaster had much of an impact on my life way up near the Canadian border.
However, I remember watching the news and feeling disheartened with the career I had chosen. All of these people were rushing to help in Louisiana and it struck me that I didn’t have any skills that helped other people. This really bothered me.
So, I decided to go to massage school. I wanted to have a skill in my back pocket that would literally help other people in a meaningful way. During the course of the 9 month program I unexpectedly fell head over heels in love with massage.
By the end of the certification training I quit my career as a Graphic Designer and opened the doors of Emerge Massage Studio, LLC in 2006. Over a decade later, I am still happily helping Vermonters find peace in the midst of their busy lives.
Since 2006 I have continued my education and I have accumulated over 1,000 hours of training and 8,000+ hours of hands-on work in my practice.
My Professional Story…
I earned my certificate in Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy (also known as Barefoot Bodywork) through Barefoot Bodywork Training Course in 2013. I have completed their Barefoot Basics, Anterior/Side-lying, as well as the Advanced Ashiatsu courses.
My studies have included anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and pathology as well as 8,000+ hands on clinical hours working with the public since 2006.
